Best UK newspaper

Posted this in chat without sucess.Trying again.

I would like to start reading a newspaper in addition to The Economist,The Lawyer and The New York times.
I would prefer a UK newspaper.
I am looking for one that covers a wide array of topics from an unbiased point of view(daily mail is a no no).
I have been looking at these:
The Telegraph
The Guardian
The Independent
The Times

I would also very much like one with a comment section below the articles.

Which one would you suggest and why?

Ps: One with as little celebrity ''news'' as possible

Thank you.

guardian is the left-wing version of the daily mail

The Times is unbeatable, it is worth the subscription price.

Ft.

The times is not unbeatable, Murdoch has succeeded in adding as much tabloid into a broadsheet as possible. 'woman rapes children for 40 years' - a classic example of a 'most-read' article in the Times.

The FT has the best, most unbiased reporting, and contains absolutely none of the celebrity/tabloid stories that you wish to avoid.

Most teachers recommend The Guardian, I like it. I also like The Independant. It still has bias but to a lesser extent, and it's not all politics news either.

Daily Mail ftw

It's not at all biased

The Times and The Independent are good newspapers.

Forget the Daily Mail and Guardian.

The Guardian and The Independent are my faves, although I prefer The Grauniad because it has David Mitchell and Charlie Brooker, as well as G2 and an excellent sports pull-out. :holmes:

Does the Times have a comment section?
I really find that in most online newspaper you learn a lot from the comments.

Honestly though, why don't you just read each newspaper's website and decide which one you like the most? Everyone on here will have differing (read: wrong) opinions.

The Leicester Mercury - mainly because I was quoted in it today about my GCSE results!

The Daily Mail. :awesome:

I used to love The Times, until they introduced the subscription fee

Tbh for online news the BBC is the most reliable site.

the guardian is a bit left wing, but it's generally the best written

the times/independent for the way stories are published

Take your bias of choice...
The Telegraph - Conservative bias
The Guardian - Labour bias
The Independent - Lib Dem/Green bias
The Times - Murdoch bias
Financial Times - Generally unbiased(ish) but very business centric
Personally I read the Telegraph and the Guardian so get both sides of the spectrum.

My recommendation for you:

You will learn more about the UK from Private Eye than all those newspapers put together!

The Independent is pretty cool.

For Newspapers:

I like the Times- but at times it feels like a sophisticated News of the World/The Sun.

The Guardian- I prefer it but half the time, turns out to be a left wing daily mail.

I would recommend The Independant and The Telegraph. To pick between the two, I suppose, I would go for the The Independant.

Really I would say go and read the BBC News- reliable, fair, balanced, imparitial and quality.
