Nose Piercing

I'm getting my nose pierced tomorrow. I had it pierced when i was 16 but couldnt wear it for school, so i know what pain to expect etc.

Just 2 questions:
when you get your nose pierced, do they HAVE to put a CBR ring in during the healing time? i was given a stud when i was 16 but has this changed? im just thinking this cos when i had my helix done they said they couldnt put a stud through cartilage that's healing, so is it the same for your nose?

if you get a stud, how do you get it to stay in overnight? ive heard so many stories about people's studs falling out in their sleep! do plasters or microporous tape over the piercing work?

thanks for any help:smile:

I had mine done last week, has a stud in it so I'm assuming it's ok to still have a stud, It's still quite easy to clean. I've never had any problems about it falling out while sleeping etc, it doesn't feel like it ever would!

The part in bold is a lie, most piercers recommend studs as there is less irritation whilst healing as long as it is cleaned properly.

No idea about being specific to nose piercings, only know about helix.

The thing about the ring isn't true. It's still studs for all, happy days.

I've never heard of studs FALLING out, but when I first got mine done I had a huge problem with my studs getting caught on my pillowcase and getting pulled out when I turned over etc. So sleep on your other side, if you can. I wouldn't recommend the plaster thing, because it'll just hurt like a bitch to take off.

As long as you go to a reputable piercing studio you should be given a nose screw as standard. Not a BCR (cbr).

Oh and I would always recommend having helix piercings done with a pantry stud not a bcr.

The nose stud I had in when I had mine done was like the middle one. I've only had mine falling out when I wash my face but the middle stud will 100% stay in (probably.

What a great way to make your employment potential plummet.

Definetly wear a plaster overnight to begin with, until you can wear a proper nose stud. I wore a plaster over mine and had no problems.

Oh please, I've had 4 jobs. At most I've taken it out for the interview, and if the stud's small enough you tend to find people don't pay much attention anyway.

Fine, you can get an alright job but it's not a career.

You're deluded if you think that a nose piercing will hinder someone's career in this day and age.

You're deluded if you believe the attitude of people toward nose piercings etc no longer exists. Do you think someone like Sir Alan Sugar, Sir Richard Branson etc could still command the same respect while wearing a nose piercing? Name someone who wears a nose piercing that is successful in a business that does not involve the creative arts.

The company I work for is a drug charity, but the big bosses are all earning way above 100k and we have amazing policies when it comes to appearance.

How many of the 'big bosses' wear nose piercings?

Studs are fine for healing helix and nose piercings =).
I'm assuming you're sensible, but if not here's some advice: if the piercer you go to wants to use a piercing gun or put a butterfly-back stud in, RUN FOR THE HILLS.

How can you know? You don't know anything about your bosses lives. I work in a very corporate sector but I once bumped into my managing director at a heavy metal gig, he bought me a drink and we have had something to bond over ever since, even helped me get a couple of promotions. The finance director where I work, again corporate sector, randomly came in one day with bright red hair.

I have my nose pierced, although I do wear a tiny stud that you can barely see for work. I also have been a quick career climber within my profession. I know many people who have piercings and simply take them out when needed. Same thing with covering tattoos. Maybe I'm just quite lucky to have worked places where they value your hard work over the way you look.

As long as you don't refuse to do so if asked, it won't stop you from getting anywhere, unless of course you work in a Catholic school or something.
