This is a question for all genres and generations + a genre poll. For me the greatest song of all time has to be The Beatles - Hard Day's Night. Others that ran it close ... Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit/ Rage Against The Machine - Killing in the name of/ Soundgarden - Blackhole Sun/ Smashing Pumpkins - Today

hey...

I bet you've never heard Smells Like Teen Spirit or Black Hole Sun have you?

But still, I don't think I'd call them the best songs ever.

My dear i can assure you that i am indeed aware of that perfectly adequate sub-forum - but this generates a buzz of interest and controversy at the best of times and at the worst of times

Just checking

And please don't call me "my dear", I doubt I am as you seem to only use it when addressing people you don't like/agree with.

Never - i actually used it out of respect for ur huge tally of posts and as a term of endearment - i use 'darling' when i disagree with the likes of Vienna with whom i happened to actually agree with for the first time yesterday night

yes but have you actually *listened* to the lyrics, i think the band themselves actually admitted they were rubbish

SLTS as the best song ever? oh.dear. thats really quite worrying.

I think its too personal to even bother surveying although hotel california is usually my answer when i can't be bothered to think of anything else

personal fav= indifference by pearl jam maybe
