GCSE Grade A in subject I want to study

OK, basically I really wanna do history, but I only got an A at GCSE, so how badly is this gonna affect my application? Anyone know of anyone who was in a similar position and still got in? Any help would be sooo appreciated.

i got 2A*s, 7 As, 1 C and 1 D, at gcse and i got in. I personally think that as long as you have got the basic grade requirements they ask for and your personal statement is half decent, then you should get an interview. Its what happens at interview that counts ultimately.

I didn't get a single A* at GCSE and a D in one and yet i am taking up a place at New College a week on thursday althogh i did get 4A's at A level which did help. But not getting an A in the subject at GCSE is not to bad

i got really bad grades to:

A*,A,A,B,B,B,C,C,D,E

then in Alevels i got ABC, but my condiction for oxford was AAA

so i reapplied for New geting a new condition of AAAa

this time i got AABc, and they letting me keep my place, start week Tuesday

So im sure if they will let me in getting AAB in three years they will consider you with an A in your choosen subject at GCSE

I wouldn't worry about an A, I can't even remember my GCSE grades...it's you A-Levels that count (or equivalent)

I live on Anfield road in Anfield, which is the same road as the football stadium.
I also when to Anfield Community Comp, which is due to come down over the next six months due to the appaling accedemic results, LOL!

And although i live on anfield road and i am a big liverpool fan, i work in Everton Football Club, in the study support center. Which is good cos i have a laugh and have met all the everton players!

Why? you come from Liverpool? If so what part and what school???

Yeah Im from posh Formby. Went to a pretty crappy comp school, Holy Family, although it is not bad enough to be taken down. Think the results are only just below average. You got a season ticket? And are u watchin birmingham today on premplus?

I had one last season, but its a waste of time this season cos all my time in uni, and me brother and dad already have there own so they wouldnt wanna share and go to the matches im away for!

I didnt watch the match this mornin cos i woke up late, i was well gutted but im glad i never cos watching us play crap would of just made me annoyed (but then again im used to that over the last couple of matches).

I should of been going to the Wigan Athletic match today but i gave my tickets to two of the lads i tutor as a finishing gift.

Do you go to the matches much?

Yeah, thats pretty much hit the nail on the head. It is full of scum these days...****** rich builders who got lucky and the like. I go to as many matches as i can...We actually played very well when we went into 4-4-2 formation today, hopefully Benitez will realise this. Garcias goal was excellent, good build up like the one against Betis.

Getting a mere A in my ICT GCSE didn't hold me back from getting admitted to Oxford for Computer Science.
