Dude - you need a medical degree to be a TA medic.

As for other roles in the TA MS, from their website, 'Our selection criteria take into account the value of professional qualifications and we routinely recruit nurses up to the age of 45 and doctors up to the age of 50. Order a copy of our free CD ROM to find out more about the medical qualifications we require.
You can also join if you are a medical student, student nurse or student allied healthcare professional. No previous military experience is necessary.'

Joining the TA generally may be good as an extra-curricular, and if you want to get into the army or TA later, a great idea. You can get them to pay your tuition fees if you join the army full-time on a short commission (ten years) after you graduate (as well as participating in events as a student).

i went to the army office they said i would train as a soldier at the weekends then go onto train in the chosen career for the TA and that i dont need experience to become a medic and then if i ever became proffesionly qualified as a doctor then i can be a doctor full time in the army.

im guessing as a medic in the ta its being there to help etc not to actually make proper qualified decisions on what to regarding sick/injured people.

Fidge,

You can join a TA medical unit such as a field hospital and train as a CMT - a Combat medical Technician. There are 3 grades - RMA3, 2 and 1 with 1 being the highest. You will have to attend a number of evening and weekend training days as well as complete annual camps. Click here for more info.
