Poker Night by John Updike?

Oh Dear Lord, please say someone has read this short story. I'm seriously in panic mode. Essay due for textual analysis - Advanced higher English - tomorrow and I'm so bad at it. I've had the stupid thing for a week. Looked at it once and gave up. I've never been good at analysis and just looking at what rubbish I've wrote, I feel ashamed of handing in anything like that. :frown:

Can ANYONE help me with this short story? The question is: How effectively, in your view, does John Updike convey the character's changed perception of himself and his world after this visit? (to the Doctors)

Even just telling me what kind of man he is at the start, the middle and then the end, I think I'd be able to work out the rest. This whole post probably sounds retarded. :frown:

Any help would be greatly loved and appreciated.
