I also got ''recommended for an offer subject to BGS approval'' last Monday, so I guess I know my conditions next week.
Curious what they believe to be equivalent to first class in the Dutch grading system.

Same with the Austrian system :-D
I read in last year's thread that a German guy got 1.3 as a condition. I really hope it will be the same for Austria :-)

Have you already taken TOEFL/IELTS?

I read in the offer booklet that you are entitled to an exemption if you studied 3 years at an English speaking institution prior your studies at Cambridge. My bachelor program was entirely in English, so I hope I qualify.

"Normally, we would be looking for
three years of university-level study at an English-speaking university, leading to the award of a degree
which ended within the two years prior to the anticipated start of your course in Cambridge."

Just like you, I am hopping to study for Cambridge PhD. Cambridge MPhil + PhD structure is very close to that of most Australian universities. But the Cambridge PhD program is in general considered superior to most (or all) Australian PhD programs. While it is also true that US PhDs are of very high quality, their coursework requirements are very heavy. I hope I also have a chance to be one of your MPhil and PhD classmates but I think I won't hear any decision from Cambridge until mid April.

I also hope you can join us~ it will be interesting because one privilege of this program is the diversity of students, and we learn from each other. I think most offers are made by the end of March, those come out in April or later are on wait list. I think you are very qualified and you should hear back from them sooner. Good luck! Figures crossed!

I think you have a very good chance looking at your cv. Some have already been accepted but i think that there are still some places left, since they accept applications until March. Your second Bsc in what subject was it?

Hi, thanks so much for your reply! Yes, I am worried that my application is too late and some have already received cond. offers! I have read that they only offer about 50 places, is that correct? I wonder how many people applied this year, and of that, how many have been offered a place.

Actually, it is all part of one BSc. The Australian system is different to the UK/US systems. We can do a 3 year BSc without doing honours. I chose to do a 4th year, which means I'll have a BSc with honours. I am currently doing that 1 year honours program. It's all in statistics, with compulsory units in calculus/linear alg.

I wish I could answer your questions, but unfortunately I can not, because I have the same questions as you.. :frown: Moreover, I wait for an answer too but nothing yet :s-smilie: However, reading threads from previous years, I came to the conclusion that all offers will be send until the end of March..Did you applied to other univ. too?

Hehe, that's okay. I guess it's just the anxiety kicking in so I keep asking Qs. May I ask you what your cv/profile is like - what did you study/grades? Did you take the GMAT/GRE?

Yes, I've applied/applying for:
LSE MSc Fin Maths
Imperial College MSc Math & Fin
City Uni (Cass) MSc Quant Fin
HKUST (hong kong uni of sci and tech): MSc Fin Math & Stats and PhD in Maths.

Also thinking of applying for:
Oxford MSc Math & Comp Fin
Warwick MSc Fin Math
UCL Math Modelling
City Uni (Cass) MSc Fin Math.

I also don't know which to apply for between the 2 Cass courses - any ideas?

Which have you applied for?

PS good luck with your aps!

Thank you Sylvia! I wish the best luck to you too!! I applied to the Warwick Msc Finance and I got a conditional. Nowhere else because warwick was my second choice..

I have a BA in international economics with 8,6/10 and a 8 month internship in a bank, but I think that in Cambridge they only care about grades and academic stuff..I did not do a gmat/gre.

Moreover, I would suggest if you want to apply to a program in Oxford, then apply as soon as possible, because there is a great competition there too..

Have you recieved any answer from your applications?

Thanks! Congrats on getting cond. at Warwick. I've read that it's very good there.

Actually, I haven't submitted a lot of those aps becuase one of my referees was unavailable til just now! (hence the late applications). The only ones which are submitted are HKUST and Cambridge... no news yet.

Yeah, I am unsure about Oxford, it's very near the closing date and I have not attempted the admissions assignment yet!

Do you expect to get into Cam? Is it your 1st choice?

hey.. dont worry abt your application being late... from what I have heard, there's only been a few offers given, and many who submitted their application in Oct, etc are still waiting for a reply.. this prob shows that you wudnt be at a big disadvantage.. besides your profile luks really strong.. and yes last year there were admitted around 50 students into their program, tho I have no idea abt the number of people who applied.. the general sayn is that their is an acceptance rate of around 8%..

If I expect to get into Cam??? I believe in God! You know.. Praying every day, do not eat meat etc.. hahahahahaha..

It s my first choice since the fees are more than half less than Warwick. However, warwick is a cfa partner so I think that their program will deserve the money, but i m not sure if i want to work in the industry to use the cfa..

What s your first choice? what do u want to do after the master? any particular plans? In addition I believe that all the universities you think about applying are the best. So I think you chose wisely

In addition, I am very curious if anyone has an offer and applied after the 10th of December (that s when they received my papers). If anyone has an offer guys please tell me.

Thanks for the info! Kuzelle, I know you got a cond. offer. Sorry if you've already posted but what is your profile/grades if you don't mind me asking?

Because LSE is 27,000 pounds (too much money for me) and Cass because from what I have read it s not so good as warwick. I also have a lecturer who studied in Cass and he told me that it s not something special (of course still a very good univ.)

Praying everyday? I'm praying every second! Sigh!

Yeah, I saw that Warwick is a CFA partner. I think that's appealing too.

My first choice is Cambridge! Second to that, maybe Imperial College, I like their program. I think I want to do a PhD, but I am not sure for now. I want to work in the quant field. How about yourself?

Btw, where did you go to uni? uk or elsewhere?

Imperial College was the first univ that came to my supervisor's mind when I told him that I want to study in England! I think that s an excellent choice!! They indeed have the most appealing electives from all the programs I have looked (and i have checked a lot :P). I did not apply because it s a little expensive but if I could I would apply for sure.

In my opinion, if you want to do a Phd then Cambridge is by far the right choice, but if you want to work in a corporation then maybe Imperial has a slight edge, but that s just my opinion.

I do not know what I ll do next, maybe go to become a priest after so much praying :P hahaha.. I really do not know, I just hope to make the right choice when I will have to decide :P

I did my Ba in Greece (f****ing crisis)

I read it somewhere on TSR... dont count on it tho.. some other said that it was less than 3%.. But I gues the acceptance rate at LSE is lower than the one at Cam, since its said to be one of the hardest courses to get into at LSE... Think its around 3% rit??

Oh and in regard to the debate on uni's, even my second choice was Warwick... LSE is pretty expensive, and I hate London.. :frown:.. And I think that WBS is a notch higher that Imperial's business school.. and it has great connections with employees...
