Do you know when the closing dates for applications were? If the deadline has passed and you haven't heard anything you won't lose anything by ringing them. Personally I would give the HR department a call, it certainly won't be detrimental to your application, and then at least you'll know either way

There were no closing dates for the jobs that I applied to. Alright, I'll go give them a call then.

This is just normal I only seem to get an interview for every 5 jobs I apply for.

I'm still looking for a job, lack of experience means that nobody wants to bother employing me lol, but I'm going to go into town later and see if theres any part time jobs to keep me going a bit! Does it normally take weeks to get them, like with a long application proccess and stuff?

Trev as someone suggessted give them a call, I phoned a company, who i applied for a full time accounts job with, and since I was practically the only person who applied they want to wait for more applications before any decisions are made, the only thing was my lack of experience, he suggessted doing something in a shop, but commented on A level grades(hopefully if he phones in a month or so the A levels + a little bit of experience might help me to get a second interview!)(really hoping!!!!)

Good luck with the jobs you've applied to!

The application process is not long. Some shops just want a CV only while some want a CV and an application form from a store or shopping center. I applied for a few jobs and they only want a CV, and some shops want an application form that I can get from the information center with a CV (the form is standard and it can be used to apply for any shop in the shopping center). The form is not that long too. The form I filled in just ask for your personal details, previous experience in the workplace, qualifications, hobbies/interests, and referee addresses and names.

The jobs I applied for is 5 days a week (working around 40 hours a week) and some christmas period jobs too. I apply for both of those 'modes' of jobs to see which one will accept me. I really want the 40 hours a week job though, as I can earn more. When I went to town/shopping center a few days ago, the full/part time pernament jobs are almost taken. However, there are some full/part time pernament jobs though, but it's limited. I also end up asking each store to see if there are any vacancies, most them say there isn't right now, and we will employ people for the Christmas period.

I'm just really worried that the retail stores won't employ me, as they rather employ someone with experience instead.

Yeah, I would call the company. Thinking about it, it might be rude, as you are kind of rushing/pestering them, etc.. That's what I'm worried about.

Working in retail is the best way to earn money when we have no experience.

Thanks for the luck. I wish you good luck too.

Quite a lot of places never get back to you. But if you really want to work there and it's been a while you can't lose anything by phoning them. Theoreticlly, it is quite possible they got the wrong phone number or the letter got lost in the post or they left a message and it didn't get passed on.

Alright then.

Oh, by the way, one of the jobs I applied for my friend works there. He told me I didn't get accepted for the job. So they didn't call back. I should assume that will be the same thing for the other jobs I applied then 2-3 weeks ago. I'll have to wait for the recently applied 3 jobs that I did last week.

If they don't want you for a minor reason then showing enthusiasm (by phoning them) may make them change their mind. But you can't make it worse, as presumably they've already decided they don't want you!
