Interacial relationships. What is the deal?

There have been many threads doing the rounds regarding interacial relationships and if certain groups will go out with others.

I have always wondered what rewards do you get from an interacial relationship that one would not get from a relationship with someone from the same race?.

Surely they are more challanging perhaps due to culture clash and/or opposition from society.

The Observer poll found that 14 per cent of those who are or were married to someone who of a different colour to them would not consider mixed marriage again due to the difficulties they had encountered.

Sure there would be benefits: integration into new cultures; gene diversity; better looking children (subjective, but popular opinion nonetheless); excitement. I'm sure there are loads more.

Polls and all on topics to do with "human feelings" or whatever are ********.

I'm paki..lol...well half. Father indian, madre italiano...me born in London...and I've gone out with italian/english/spanish before...and I don't see any problems.

Although in my paki side of the family, like there are some people who are really into their religion..for some weird reason..and they are young too, like my age..and I could never imagine them going out with another race, but it's only the religion thing. Like they are sooo into it.

Anyways, when you say rewards..are you dumb or something?..

What do you mean rewards dude?..You go out with someone because you think they are hot...you don't think about the "rewards"..or the family and ****. you just go out with a person because you think they are hot...period.

Some people have weird opinions on race's and ****..but it's simple. If you like someone you go out with them..you **** them...

What a stupid poll. What about same race marriages that had encounted difficulties? Would they, therefore, not consider a same race marriage again? Also, the difficulties may not even have been race related. No-where in that quote does it say that, despite the suggestion it implies.

Furthermore, I find it very hard to believe that the Observer would run such a poll. Doesn't sound in tone with the newspaper's ethos at all.

Listen "dude". Stop and let that solitary neurone do its job before you post. By rewards I refer to rewards in a relationship e.g mutual happiness, security and general well being.

14% of those in mixed race marriages is actually quite a small number of total marriages in England. So not many people seem to encounter problems these days then, Hooray!

You seem to be assuming that people necessarily view dating people of their own race as the proper thing to do, referring to dating outside of one's own race as if it could only ever form a mediocre substitute. You don't seem to have thought about trying not to offend people. Hypothetically, why not ask about the benefits of dating within your race when compared with the arguably more enlightening alternative?

I'm not saying that the topic itself is a no-starter for discussion but I think that you should think about how you say things in this environment.

And 14% is minority for ****s sake!

Even the title pisses me off..."What is the deal?"... just says 'attitude', like you actually have a problem with it or something.

There is an opinion that the wider mix of genes has this effect.

Some people do think mixed race children are better looking.

Look at it this way...interracial dating = more hot chicks to choose from.

OK so I'm Chinese and there's about 1.4bill in the world so I don't have that much of a problem, but still, variety is the spice of life as they say.

Also, 14% is tiny when you consider the percentage of marriage that ends in divorce. I can't be asked, but I'm sure someone will be kind enough to dig the figures off some Government agency website.

What is your ancestry? Just out of interest.
Seriously im shocked at how many ppl actually care about race in a relationship. They happen, you dont plan them, so your preference to who you are with couldn't possibly be predetermined unless you were some shallow egotist 'out on the pull' etc? The very fact that these bloody threads keep popping up shows that we're all so curious to see what each other are doing and need assurance and conformity to what race we date, im personaly sick of it now!
If you are some guy who says "yeah i'd prefer a white girl, they rock, but i'm open to suggestions" then to be honest you dont deserve a bloody relationship. Open your eyes! Talk about al load of ppl talking crap before they even know this 'mystery person' they are talking about. Do you go out on a friday night and only ask someone out if she/he's blonde? Or has green eyes? The truth is you never know your perfect partner until you experiment so shut up and stop speculating!
All this crap probing and polling about mixed race marriages? I think half of the racism debate sems to be filled up with people trying to analyse the people of different races that actually do mix: just leave ppl alone! It doesn't even have to be an issue until somebody says "ooh! that black guy is going out with a white woman? i wonder why?"- why the hell do you think?!? Its not rocket science but everyone seems to want to analyse ANY minority as if they in fact are doing something wrong!
Ugh.....rant over lol

I don't know why people think this is a problem - it's such a shallow thing to base (or not base) a relationship on.
