umm, quite often i include it in my texts to him, but mainly it's just 'xx' at the end. we say it a lot to each other when we're together though and i've never found that it devalues it. we've been together for over 4 years now.

Been with him nearly 6 years, and no, we don't.

Only been together a year, but didnt say it for 6 months.. made it SO special when we said it.
We dont say it via texts that often really..
not unless we cant speak for a while after that or soemthing.. like.. "have to turn phone off now, speak in two days, love you" kinda thing.

I say I love you in about 10% of my texts regardless of whom it's to.

Are you drunk during that time? :teehee:

Reply 7

No every text. But sometime I just text to say it. Like hey babe i love you xxxxxx miss you already xxxxx.

Lol if anyone told me I would love someone this much I probably would have laughed at them and told them to **** off it is naseauting lol. But am really happy with him

A lot of the time yes, it's kind of automatic now  I disagree that it degrades it though, it doesn't make hearing it any less special for me.

Reply 9

if it's my first text of the day or after like a long gap in texing then I tend to, but after that i just put a couple of kisses. He gets the idea :p:

Reply 10

Nope I don't say it. In fact, we've not said it to each other although we've been together for over 10 months!

I wouldn't text it anyway though, so no.

Of course, I usually am drunk. Why, would that affect it?

Reply 12

Been with him 3 years, known him for 6 years roughly, and we tell eachother every 5-10 minutes if I had to guess.

It varies from couple to couple!

Hearing it makes me happy all the time.

Reply 13

say "I love you" when I miss my boyfriend or when I just want to say it, but we're really cheesy, in two years we do seem to be in the honeymoon state for most of the time so maybe that's just it. Wouldn't say it in every text, don't even put x's on every text

Reply 14

Yes definately devalues it!!!! Plus putting x's (i.e. kisses) is absolutely worthless when they send them to everyone they ever txt!

Reply 15

Nah, usually just at night before bed really, if we're apart (LDR).

Reply 16

Nope, we rarely say it to each other because we dont want tno devalue it

Reply 17

No. Only if it merits it.

Reply 18

If you can say "I love you" too much to your spouse, that really sucks lol.

When sending/recieving text messages to your boyfriend/girlfriend, do you say "love you" in every text? To a degree it devalues those three words IMO.

This question is specifically for those of you who are currently in relationships for more than six months/serious relationships.

Hi,

I'm in a pretty serious relationship and hardly ever text 'love you' for the sake of saving time I guess. :o: Same goes for IM/IRC, where I talk to my boyfriend a lot more than via text.

I think you're right though, the phrase would be less meaningful if it was used frequently and I think it's best saved for perhaps once in a long conversation or at times when you really mean it.
