As above.
E.g Accounting and Finance instead of Economics at LSE or Warwick.

I take it you're studying A&F.

To be honest compared to Econ and Maths A&F is a mickey mouse degree. Accounting requires the intellect of a 10 year old, and the technical aspects in finance are not difficult to learn. A&F students spend 3 years learning what new analysts at a bank will learn in 3 months. Congratulations, the next 3 years of your life will be a complete waste.

I see you changed your mind. I remember a previous thread were you was arguing for A&F, talking about it's better than Physics, Maths etc. I swear you study/will study A&F?

He's also changed his mind on IBD vs Markets. So much chat about a CF stint before this summer. Spending a summer chained to a chair has changed him.

Says IB & C forum's resident troll.

You seem to have something controversial to say about every topic on here.

Economics is in a different league in terms of rigour. Zweihanders comments are not too far from the truth tbh.

Theres a reason why Oxbridge have business schools, but refuse to offer A&F as a degree.

Maths > Engineering > Economics > English > A&F

As you go left to right, the content is more and more diluted.

Obviously. A&F is simply not as rigorous as Economics.

Not really, its the degree you studied, not the subject which matters. If you think what i said makes no sense:

the degree = university + subject

my point is that if you do a subject which is not as amazing, but at an amazing university then its not a complete fail. Doing A+F at LSE is not regarded bad....... because its LSE therefore satisfying the 'university' component above.

I had a fried who did a maths degree in one of the COWI universities. He graduated saying so much of it was pointless it couldnt be used in most graduate jobs, including banks. Not sure if this is true, but perhaps there's a balance and engineering/economics is the peak of the curve of usefulness + application.

Nope, English isn't really a useful degree, tbh.

Oxford offers E&M instead of pure economics, and to be honest Management is very mickey mouse.
A&F is a good course, provided you take the right modules/subjects.

Better than studying something that you will never use in real life.

No. A mickey mouse degree at a top uni =/= respected.

Actually looking at the modules available to A&F students at LSE they don't sound mickey mouse at all.

Lol, someone dissing English and having no idea that someone is using hyperbole. Ironies.

 I figured that.

Anyway, I was just pointing out that the content isn't all that useful. not saying that the content is poor or that the degree is not challenging.

Maybe it is for IB, but otherwise it's far more practical than a degree in economics. I've studied both economics and accounting and finance and economics on the one hand creates a lovely story of the world and makes so many assumptions you can't even take it seriously after a while. Whereas accounting and finance just teaches you methods used in finance relative to the real world, so as above it is a more practical subject to learn.

How is a management degree a mickey mouse degree?
How is the course at LSE?
