I need to get my grades (AS) from BCD (maths, chem, econ) to AAB by next july.
To do this, i need to do 5 retakes (2 maths, 1 chem, 2 econ).

I was just wondering how many people have roughly done this and how hard it will be to achieve.

I know im capable but will this mean like no social life and non stop work ? :frown:

I got AAB (maths, physics, chemistry) from BCC at AS. It isn't impossible but you're going to have to seriously pull your finger out.

I went from BDDE to AACa. Didn't think I would, so I applied to low-ish universities, but it's definitely possible, especially with retakes. :l

It wasn't really that difficult - one retake in the D (English Literature) brought me up to a B for AS, and then with my A2 tacked on I ended up with an A. It just depends on whether you find it immensely hard and struggled, or if you just royally ****** up a few exams for whatever reasons. (like I did :/).

Providing you re sit and take next year extremely seriously to the extent where ALL your attention goes to getting those grades, then yes, of course it's possible and seeing as you want it so bad, I am sure you will do fine. I wish you all the luck with next year. Good luck

I got BCCDE at AS in Maths, Physics, Biology, Further Maths, Chem, in that order.
Got A*A*A overall for my A2 in Maths, Further Maths and Physics.
I found it alright, I still had a social life, still went out and got pissed at least once a week, except while exams were actually on.

It's possible, just put your mind to it man.

It's possible, but hey think about it. Getting AAB will get you into a better university, which could affect the rest of your life.

I think that's worth sacrificing your social life.

Did you apply in your A2 year or your gap year?
As with BCCDE (similar to me), your predicted grades wouldn't be that great?

I applied during my A2 year. I considered waiting to reapply to the top unis for maths (I got 2/1 in step ii/iii, which is good enough for some cambridge colleges) but decided i didn't want to wait a year and then be rejected because of resits.

I got my form tutor to put my predicted grades as AAA, because i knew i'd get that at least this year. He was a bit dubious, and i know a few people on here don't think it's fair to get higher predictions when your AS results don't stand up, but if you think you can get the grades, i'd talk to your teachers about it. The point of your application is to get you into uni, after all.

i went from BDD to ABB

I went up by one grade in ICT, two in Maths and one in Economics. It wasnt that hard tbh but then I got the bad results at AS because I just didnt revise.
I guess it depends on why you got those results, if you tried your best and you feel like you cant do much more then youre in for a hard time. A2 is harder and a lot more stressful and I doubt many would disagree with me on that.
Its gonna be very hard especially when youve got Maths, I found C3 quite easy but I know a lot of people who ****** it up and even more people ****** up C4.

Probably. It's guna be a huuuge ask. I worked my socks off and I went from:

90%, 79% and 69% in my AS levels (predicted A* A B)

to 80% 79% and 78% in my A2 levels.

from ABC in my AS levels, I now have AAA in my AS levels. but my A2 exams suffered. you have to think that A2 is much harder and if you got a D at AS then A2 is guna be difficult. I was predicted A*AB and got ABB because I spread myself too thinly... tried getting my C up to an A which was impossible, leading to my A* dropping to an A and my A to a B (i was 2 ums off!)

Be really positive, work hard, and try your best. don't put too much pressure on yourself, and do your best, that is all that is expcted of you. good luck

It is possible but universities won't count on you doing so because statistically speaking the odds are heavily against you, usually a candidate achieves roughly the same grades in A2 as in AS if not slightly lower UMS-wise.

If you are indeed going for it then you'd probably be best taking a gap year because you won't get taken seriously by universities with AAB requirements and most likely won't even make it past the initial candidate shortlisting with those grades :frown:

Fantastic achievement, which just goes to show what people can achieve when they set their mind to something. Well done!

WOW well done for that!!!
My predicted grades are BCD due to my poor AS grades and i'm not applying to top unis BUT i know that i can achieve much much more than this with hard work (this then will hopefully allow me to go through clearing/adjustment or even a gap year i don't mind)
How did you balance everything out? I've got 3 resists on top of my 6 A2 exams including maths, any tips?
Thank you
