What do you think?
Are tattoos chavvy and trampy as hell, or are they classy?

I find them to be extremely chavy, theres no need for it, if you want prints on your skin, draw something with pen, so atleast your not stuck with it for the rest of your life. Plus who is it trying to impress, its certainly not going to help your skin in the near future, when it gets old and saggy. However i must say, some tattoos are slightly classier than others e.g. something small and hidden, like a small star of a little quote. Otherwise those enormous dragons and crap, they dont make someone look very aproachable.
Surely depends on what it is and who its on. I have seen some really gorgeous tattoos. And I have seen some that look as if they've been drawn on with a biro.
I  tattoos.
But obviously some look horrendous and chavvy - butterfly's, Chinese letterings etc - just yuck.
I can't imagine them ever looking classy though either.
You've skewed the poll so I haven't voted.

I wanted to get a tattoo- a quaver on my hand a year ago- but I realised it wasn't very original. Plus my parents didn't want me to get one until I was 16, plus it was expensive and finding a reputable (clean, safe, professional) place to do it for me underage would be difficult. This sounds silly, but I also was worried about it going on and my hand being damaged, too. I'm a bit sensitive about my hands! And it would be just like me to have an allergic reaction.

I don't think they're particularly classy at all- but if they're subtle and plain black and small, they don't necessarily have to look common. If it's red and blue and messy and massive, then I'll write you off as common. Also if you have a name tattoo, especially if it's your kid's name...just tacky.
If I were to get one in the future, it would be somewhere like the palm of my hand or inside my arm. I wouldn't do anything big or anything like a quote or phrase, because you go through phases and I might turn on the quote the next year or week or day. Maybe 'bagism' for a joke.
definitely depends on the person and the tattoo...a lot of the time they can look quite chavvy but if it's artistically done or has sentimental value then i wouldn't say they were chavvy. i wouldn't call them classy either though...then again there aren't many classy people around these days anyway...
Also when beginning tattoo 'artists' practise on themselves...awful.

Hello Kitty tattoos I wouldn't be able to take seriously.
I have tattoos and would hope i'm not chavtastic.
I have never seen a tattoo i could describe as 'classy', however.
Some tattoos are chavvy or 'trampy' it depends on the location and what the actual tattoo is. Me and my best friend have got matching ones, on our wrists of our initialis (an S for me, an L for her) interwined. It is special to us because we've been best friends for over ten years. I don't think it's chavvy at all.

I don't think tattoos can be classy though, nice yes, but not really classy.

Personally, I like them.

I've got a bike chain wrapped around my forearm.

I think in some cases they can be beautiful works of art. Some of the work on Miami Ink is just... Wow!

Then again, some can be just awful... Especially chavvy women's one like hearts on the wrists with quotes like "live each day like its your last" under them... Those aren't nice in my opinion.
I haven't voted as there is no "in the middle" answer on the poll.
Some can be very good. I've wanted one for a few years but waiting for the right reason along with the right design.

At the end of the day though your going into a dull, sh*ty looking shop and having needles poked in your skin. Nice.

I wouldnt call em chavvy. On the other hand I reckon it's about where it is place. I mean I hate women with tattoos on their chest, shoulders and arms. I think something like cheryl coles tattoo on her hand is nice but I wouldnt get it. I think tattoos are a nuissance waking up to a permanent mark on you for the rest of your life

There's nothing classy about it lol
Not definitely classy. I think its kinda chavvy, i dont like tattoos on me, but when i see people with tattoo, it makes me think they're tough, rocker, rapper or slut?

I'd say it depends on the individual design, the placement on the body, and also how many tattoos one has altogether. Like nearly everything in life, some tattoos are bad and some are good.

I agree with this. Lots of random cartoons everywhere look awful, in my opinion. I'd hate to walk into a tattoo studio, pick a random picture off the wall and have it tattooed on me. Every tattoo I plan to get has a certain meaning, a story behind it. And they'll be in places that I can hide. Saying that, if they are done really well, I guess they're ok if they're more obvious.
You people really need to redefine your idea of "chav".
Tatoos are NOT for Chav's. I don't have one but I can say from those who do that they aren't...actually depends on what kind of tatoo it is..small tattoos are much nicer than ones that are all over the arms, neck etc..that just looks GROSS
I think tatoos are very classy
I have 5 ....
One of a green frog on my foot
Thirteen snowdrops in a circle on my upper arm
A picture of Edward Cullen above my left ear
The words " Být ?i nebýt " (to be or not to be in Czech) on my ribs
and a bracelet (made of bones) around my wrist
I don't think classy is a word I'd use to describe tattoos, but they're definitely not all chavvy. Some are though, obviously.
