Is anyone else feeling upset about leaving home?

I feel like a total loser at the moment but I keep crying at the thought of leaving my parents and going into the big bad world on my own!

All of my friends seem to be mega confident (although they might be hiding similar worries, who knows) but I am a bag of nerves.

I feel really sick when I think about it and then I get teary.

Is anyone else feeling similarly?

I'm so glad it's not just me! I'm just worried about my flatmates not being understanding or whatever :frown:

Said goodbye to my grandparents today and I cried a little bit then so I know it's going to be really really hard to say goodbye to my mum and dad :frown:

No. XD

But I have sympathy, I'll be the one coming into your room with a cup of tea and trying to make you feel better. :h:
Nah I'm not upset at all really. I'm so, so excited. My mum's upset though. I suppose because I'm only an hour and a half away on the train it's not really a big deal at all to me. I know I'll see them and I know I'll talk to them so I'm not that fussed. But also one of my best friends is in the same halls as me and I know a few people going to the same uni, so I expect these factors are helping a lot.

I just noticed you're doing TEFL - me too! I'm a bit nervous about what it's going to be like!

My mum is secretly really upset which is making it worse :frown:

Nope, can't wait to leave. Whilst I've appreciated the roofs under my head for many years, I've been waiting ages to just leave and be more independent. My family just argue with each other all the time, so dramatic and can't wait to just escape it all.

See I feel like I should be feeling a little bit like you and I was for a while, until the whole "oh ****, I'm actually going to university" thing kicked in. My home life's been pretty **** for the last year but I'm gonna miss home so much, it doesn't make sense.
i just feel upset that i am NOT moving out...

Almost everyone feels like this at points. Some before they move out, some when they are there. I cried twice before (once on my first friend who left's final night here, once on my last night, both times with a group of friends). Also I cried a few times when I got there, on odd nights where I'd feel really homesick! But then the rest of the time I'd be having so much fun, so it's still well worth it. And after a while you get really used to it, it's not like you can't visit often!

Im excited to leave and live on my own, but I will miss my family, my bro especially. My parents have supported me in all my choices in life, and im eternally grateful for my upbringing and how I've turned out so far. My brother is my Xbox Live buddy and general friend. It's gonna be weird without all the banter and nerdy 'Boom! Pwned!' comments he comes out with. But I suppose I've got to fend for myself sometime. I'm sounding more and more like a pussy by the second so I'll leave it at that.

Oh wow, didn't even know Portsmouth did TEFL. Such are the wonders of UCAS search.

Well, you don't have much to worry about regarding university. Firstly, you have excellent taste in courses and it'll be grand. Secondly, I'm sure there'll be plenty of over-optimistic ****** like me there at Portsmouth to cheer you up if you miss home. :p:

Never gets easy. At least not for me. Although I am an international student so that's a bit different. I miss not only my family and friends (and oh, how I miss them) but also just home in general. The country, the city, the language, etc..

But seriously. I'm a finalist this year and I literally cry every. single. time. when i have to leave.
