it feeds the spots with nutrients and makes them grow bigger but fluorine it poisonous to bacteria

I just wondered if this really works? I've heard people talk about drying out spots using toothpaste...anyone know the effect??!

The fluoride is mildly antiseptic and toothpaste tends to reduce the swelling a bit.

so (sorry to be so graphic!) does it work better than squeezing?

well you gotta squeeze them out afterwards - remember use a little antiseptic and cotton buds to sueeze it out...not your fingers cause it can spread the bacteria of the sport to other areas f your face and it can bring back another spot in itsplace if you dont use antiseptic :frown: xoxo

it works ok on me to bring the swelling down..lol but i'd try it on a sensitive part of your body first (like the inside of your elbow) i know some people that have done it and their faces didn't appreciate it much, made their spots go, but left them with an angry red patch where the tooth paste was :frown:

...and how long do you leave it on for? sorry for all the questions. I don't get lots of spots, so it's more obvious when I do, and they arnt nice when they come, just wondered if this would work!

I think you're better off using oher methods, I work in a kitchen, which really isn't good for my skin so I use sudocream. Toothpaste is more of a myth, it does sort of work, but I prefer other quicker ways of 'zapping' them.....!

I use toothpaste, just dab it on overnight and it dries up sports quite well, i'm talking about occasional little spots though, it just dries them up and they go fairly quickly then.

Yeah i agree - could be painful!!
Toothpaste really does work tho - but tea tree oil is better!!

Thanks, thats really helpful!
i have tried it, but i didn't like it very much. It just felt sticky and too smelly.

What i tend to do which really works is get a mud pack (the original from tescos) and put a small dab on where your spot is, leave it over night and it dries the spot up and stops it from coming back and getting infected.
You can get benzoyl peroxide over-the-counter for acne.

don't go there with the toothpaste.it dries the skin out which then makes it produce more oil.you can use those antiseptic spot sticks but they always make it look a bit worse the next day as they brinfg all the gunk o the surface.

oh and do not squeeze.this can cause scarring.at least steam your face first if you're gonna do it.
