park the otherside of byres road from the uni-up one of those streets most aren't pay and display-well the ones a block or 2 away from byres road anyway

Park somewhere on the outskirts of the city, near an Underground station and then go to Byres Road.

Admittedly this options costs a bit more than simply finding free parking, but it'll probably work out cheaper in the long run than getting a permit.

Oh and incidently, if they try to give you a ticket for parking on University car parks without permission, say you're not a student and most of the time they won't try to pursue it and probably even help you take the sticker thing off.

There's a park and ride by Bridge St underground that you could use, get the underground to Hillhead to get to the uni. Eerm, have you tried the spaces around the Stevie? Not sure if there are that many "free" parking spaces around Glagow uni unless you're staff tbh

I dunno whether you can do it but you could park in QM, there are always quite a few spaces infront of my block. Its about a 20 minute walk to uni through botanic gardens. I guess you could try it!

Can you not park down Kelvan way, if not park on Kelvinhaugh street down by Cairncross house, Kelvinhaugh gate and Kelvinhaugh Street university halls. its about 10 mins walk away. Last time I was in Glasgow in September it was free (but maybe its changed)

There are loads of places... The most obvious and plentiful being the road that runs from outside the Glasgow Union through Kelvingrove Park (Kelvin Way I think?). The whole street, on both sides, is free all the time, and is about a mile long. Tends to fill up first thing though, you'll need to hunt after that.

There are other places, but it's taken me long enough to find them myself, and they're too small to give away... Sorry! The parking outside the uni front gate is pretty cheap, if you're going to be there for up to 4 hours, then you can park there (it is pay and display).
