Quite important, i think.

This question comes up a lot. If you've already achieved the first, probably not very, is the simple answer. All things being equal it's better to have cracking grades the whole way through than not, but if you've already achieved the qualification then I would expect other factors - your statement/research proposal, relevant modules and references - to be far more important. They're more significant if you're applying with a predicted grade.

Thank you, for a second I'd given up all hope.

Give it a go, with a first you stand a decent chance. Good luck!

Minimum requirement are a first in CS. It will not make him stand better than other candidates, sadly. We are in the same situation, hope we can see each other there next year .

I'm not actually applying for next year, but best of luck to you ! Is getting an average of 85% in my modules a big advantage or nope?

I don't know. I would only be able to compare it with my own grade, will not help you so much ^^.

Aye - but I mean that he shouldn't be at a disadvantage compared to other candidates, hence he has a decent chance

Ultimately, no one knows the answer to that. All we know is that Oxford (like many other universities) ask for a full transcript of your grades in your application. What part of this is important is hard to know. It might be that once you've got a 2:1/1st actual marks don't matter, your PS does, it might be that they look carefully at everything.
