i think thats quite good for an 18 yr old. U got any other jobs lined up? Obviously if the works the same but pays more, i'd move as well. Im 19 and I get 6.41 in Next which is pretty good. I'd go for that!

Hi, I am 18 and I work in Sainsbury's. I get paid £5.39/hour. Is this a good rate because I am considering moving to another job. The physical conditions on the till aren't great. There are so many rules as well.

If your gonna move, go to a large company that give u good rates for over time and holiday pay. Another thing I would do is get another job before you leave your present job, always a good idea!!

All the cash handling and the items I pull thru really wrecks my hands. I've already used up 2 BIG pots of cream in 3 months but it doesn't work. Plus, you're only allowed to go to the toilet in your 15 min break so you have to hold it in for 3 hours! You aren't allowed to drink either so you get really dehydrated.

I worked in Sainsburys on tills for 2 years and I can honestly say I hate tills with a passion! I started to get a really bad shoulder and 4 months on now it still causes me a lot of problems! Not sure if it was coz the nature of the work, or because the store was so old and **** and the tills were designed poorly.

Back to the topic...I think based on my most wages yours is ok!

Did you quit?

I find it really stressful more than anything, and I don't like the way I always have to call the supervisor for things like selling alcohol because ooo I'm 5 months too young for that priviledge! I get paid £5.72/hour which is high but so well earnt :hmpf: They're a bit of a pain about working hours, I work 12:30-20:30 saturdays, grrrr (and on wednesdays too)

I don't have an M&S near me & seeing as I rarely go, a discount off sains is more useful, even though it's only 10% (well 15% atm)

Don't you even shop there for Percy Pigs?
20% off saves me loads of money every week!

i work at the local leisure centre as a lifeguard and all my friends tell me i am really lucky beacuse i am 17 and get paid £8.42 per hour and get to use all the centres facilities like the gym and pool for free, so if your looking for a job that pays well become a lifeguard - its a cool job

I seriously think Percy Pigs keep Marks & Spencer in business. Obviously not literally but still...!

Hell yes they do! Those Percy Pigs are the one thing that drag me into M&S every lunch time when I'm working in town... I sometimes wonder how marvelous it would be to work at M&S in order to get the discount off those little pigs!
A man can dream...

Making you constipate is illegal! I have worked sorry, been overworked at Sainsbury's for 3 years. The pay is way too low considering they expect you to do 3 people's jobs which they call 'multiskilling'. In other words lazy a***holes who pench pinch and don't care about their employees! Why do you think they are not the number one supermarket!
