Hello
I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of doing Spanish and ab initio Russian at either Durham or Exeter? Are the modules mainly language and literature, or can you do some in culture and history?
Any advice will be gratefully received

Hey, I'm at Durham doing Spanish and Russian. Go to www.dur.ac.uk/mlac then go to the Spanish and Russian pages cos they tell you which modules you can do. There's a fairly good range, especially for Russian, but Spanish is quite literature-based - in second year if you don't want to take up a 3rd language you can only choose between linguistics, or literature modules. Tbh if you apply to Durham you should probably be fairly happy doing at least some lit. Then again I'd definitely recommend it cos I've loved it so far!
Feel free to message me if you want to know anything else!
