Creative Zen Micro - first charge and it's taking a ridiculously long time...

I got a new Zen Micro player yesterday. Having tested it (on a half-full battery) and everything seems to be working fine and dandy. However. I'm continuing to charge it and it's WAY over the suggested three hours for a first time charge. It's on three notches of battery (the maximum) but doesn't seem to be telling me it's full after what seems like a VERY long time.

Has anyone got a Zen Micro? How long did you have to charge it the first time you used it? Is mine doing things it shouldn't be?

Thanks.

Isn't it 12/24 hours the first time, for almost any MP3 player/Phone?

I just left my micro on charge alll night when i got it and then just used it the next day and was fine, it runs out of battery fairly quickly but i find even when it says it has no bars it still works for quite a while havent actually had it die on me yet!

I think it says 3/4 hours but not sure if it said otherwise for first charge.

Doesn't leaving it on all night require leaving the computer on all night?

Aha. I've been trying to get hold of the plug in charger. HMV have offered to try to order one for me (even though they don't usually get them in on customer request) but I'll have to wait at least a week *sighs*. Where did you get yours?

It came in the BOX? Why on EARTH didn't mine? Am going to get on to Creative about this. It may be a gorgeous player but it's not fair to make me spend thirty quid extra on something some people seem to get for free *grrr*.

Yer it should of come in like a package how can they expect you to charge when your not near comp! I would deff trying writting to creative and blagging one!

they only came with the limited edition sets when first released they also came with an extra battery.

:frown: i never got an extra battery hmmmm

Creative only started including a mains charger with the package fairly recently. I got mine in August and got a charger, someone I know got one in January and didn't get one. But you could try blagging all the same.

I didn't get an extra battery though :frown:

I got mine in january and got a charger maybe it depends on where you get it from too.

i got mine in June, and got a mains charger but not an extra battery. I got mine from amp3.co.uk and they had some kind of offer thing where u got £29.99 worth of free accessories but i dunno if that meant the mains charger or the in-line remote that i got.

First charge - i left it overnight, nad just started using it and it was fine. I've never seen a "battery full" sign come up, so maybe one doesn;t  ?

Now, i just leave it for about 3 hours, or leave it overnight.

You could put the computer in stand by mode, there will still be electricity flowing through the usb ports.

Well on my computer there is

I didn't get a mains charger with mine but I bought one from Creative on line and they were very efficient - I've now got a mains charger with all the different plugs for anywhere in the world. I confess I charged mine up using the usb link on the computer and that seemed to do the trick after about 3 hours it was fine and I had at least 8 hours of music before I charged it again by plugging it back in to the usb port. It automatically recharges itself if you just have it on while you're online or working at the computer or even downloading stuff. I've found it brilliant - wouldn't be without it now!

I find the battery life to be a bit crap tbh, but then I tend to let it go down to 1/2 bars and top it up instead of letting it drain completely.
