I know its a dad thing but wen i started gettin 'facial hair' him and my mum were splitting up and ive never asked him for some reason, now ive left it too late lol and id feel like an idiot asking him, my bro's or my friends!

If i went out and got a gillete razor and some foam wat would i do with it! Can one of like make a little guide for me!?

I feel like such an idiot askin this lol

Thankssssssss!

No-one taught me, it's not something you usually get taught but here's what works for me:

Wash face with warm/slightly hot water so that the pores of your skin open up allowing the facial hair to slightly increase in length.

Small amount of foam rubbed onto face, don't put too much as it'll act as a buffer against the blade. A very thin layer is recommended.

Follow the grain of your hair growth e.g. what i do is, go downwards all the way on the face. Wash it off, put some more foam, and go upwards. This allows for a very clean shave but might have some consequences on the skin. Make sure you use plenty of moisturiser to avoid rough skin.

I don't shave often, twice a week max and no-one really taught me either but I do what multiplexed does too ;

-Wash face with warm/hot (quite warm but not hot enough to burn your face) water for a few minutes
-Apply gel, not loads but enough to last the whole shave so it doesn't dry off
-Shave downwards everywhere there is some growth but if the hair grows in a different direction go 'down' or 'with' that direction.
-Take small strokes each time though and rinse blade in warm/hot water
-Wash off any remaining gel with warm water and reapply another thin layer
-Shave 'upwards' i.e. opposite to the direction I went the first time, again using small strokes and rinsing in hot water regularly
-Wash off all remaining gel with warm water
-Rinse face with cold water

Try not to drag the razor across your face and don't go over the same areas more than twice at most
no one taught me.. shaving is so easy..

Worth trying electric razors if you're lazy. Some people have a reaction to them, but I find it's a lot quicker and for the thicker areas makes it less painful

A VERY HANDY TIP!

When shaving the moustache region, above the lip try and drag that bit of skin over your teeth, making you pull a bit of an old man face, so the surface is flatter, and you wont slice through your lip. Bleeding lips are SO hard to get to stop bleeding, so I really would avoid doing it.

You can also inflate your cheeks, or force them outward with your tongue to ensure a flatter surface and decrease likelihood of cutting.

Let us know how the new shaving methods work out!

Shavings pretty straight-forward. I usually scrape the sharp metal over my face untill my facial hair dissapears!
i jus shave every which way until its smooth...neva bin cut!!

don't worry it's trial and error. i remember when i was 15 and used to cut myself quite a bit. here's the best advice:

1. always use a sharp blade, not a dull one that is months old. try and only use one 1-3 times (3 at most).

2. when your still a teenager your skin is still soft so ALWAYS shave in the shower and Immediately afterwards. Your lathered up face will make the blade slide along it like butter and knife.

3. Try and only stroke downwards to start with. Upwards on the neck if you have to.

4. Don't use bic disposeables. the blades are so low quality they make me bleed because the blade gets damaged so easily.

Oh yeah and lol listen to that lip advice. You might find you'll be screaming for towels from mummy to stop you drowning in your own blood!

Has anyone tried those styptic pencils? i was going to but then i heard its really painful?

I find that once ive just a blade 4/5 times it cuts me less.

Shaving whilst in the bath is good advice.

*joke  *
seriously though, that's strange. well it depends how its getting dull. if its evenly getting dull then its not dangerous but if certain parts of the blade are becoming dented you'll get lots of cuts.

dont forget to try and be careful about Never sliding the blade parallel! *OUCH!*

i never bothered using gel at all. Just shave in or right after a shower when your face is soaked. easy as

If i dont use gel i get a rash, i dont save that often maybe once a week, i dont cut myself that often unless i have a bit of a mad moment and catch my lip or something. And i was reading in the paper that the countrys biggest item for being shop lifted are razors, i noticed in sainsburys they are now all kept behind the counter and you have to take a card to get them.
