Anyone that's at University at the moment, what is your opinion on the best types of food to buy? Money saving wise. When I go to university, I hope to be saving as much money as possible for luxuries. Also, what's your tips on saving money?

For cheapness... pasta, jacket potatoes, mince and chicken are both versatile and cheap, make food yourself instead of buying ready meals/take aways - if you can, make large quantities and freeze it, buy fruit/veg from markets/greengrocers, go shopping near the end of the day and look for offers on food nearing it's expiration date, make a list of what you will need for the week and stick to it. That's about all I can think of. Oh and if you don't really care about nutrition etc and wanted to be really cheap then you can buy value noodles/angel delight/curry sauce etc for a few pence in places like Tesco. Not sure what they taste like though.
