    Hi,

I am studying Radiography in london and we have placements for half of the year. I know that you can claim back cost of placement travel. However was thinking of getting an oyster card would that make any difference to my claim, or does it not matter?

if you will be getting a travelcard you can just keep the receipt then submit this on your claim form

If you'll be putting money on and using it as a pay as you go then usually (at least it was when I was at uni) you have to go onto the oyster card site at the end of the placement - print all a list of all your oyster card transactions and highlight which ones were made to/from placement. They will then refund you for those particular transactions (this way you cannot claim for trips done during placement blocks but that were on the weekend or for transactions that were not done to/from placement itself e.g. in the evening)
