yep, at my college the stats were also completely wrong too 
we had less places than they said and about 8 more applicants

Damn! Is it true (earlier post) that Economics is one of the most competitive at Cambridge?! Bloody Great if so!
Courses at cam that have no direct equivalent at Oxford tend to have higher application ratios. ie yiou cant do straight philosophy or economics at oxford so if thats what you want to do you apply to cambridge
