It's facebook! If you feel your relationship can only mean something by it being on facebook then you lead a very sad life....
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I wasn't aware that Facebook was a joke, or an alternate life. So, why would wanting to have an actual relationship listed on your profile make it like that?

If I was in a relationship with a girl who was married to another girl, I'd set my status to "Its Complicated". You should do the same, she will like that especially when all your mutual friends get the update

I am going out with this girl now and have been for a couple of days. My profile shows me as 'single' and her profile is shown as 'married to...' and one of her best friends.

When I asked her if we should put it on Facebook, she said there is no need and she is married to her friend on there.

Is this something I should care about or does this happen with a lot of couples? Not sure how I feel about it to be honest.
just change yours to 'in a relationship' if you want to.
you don't have to put her name since shes 'married' to her friend.
just so people know you're going out with someone i guess.

But within the first couple of days of going out it's quite sad that the OP is worrying about if it should be on facebook or not!!

The fact its early days and she is "married to" a friend means this is nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't advise leaving your relationship status as single if you're actually in a relationship. I told a girl I liked her last year thinking that she too was single (as it was listed) but it turned out she was already seeing someone (and this wasn't an excuse to let me down easy, as evidence showed it wasn't made up).

So yeah, either list yourself as in a relationship or get rid of the relationship status box completely lol

She would put you on, only you've only been going out for a couple of days ... DAYS! and her "marriage" to her best friend kind of outdoes you at this stage, don't you think?

You only want to cement your relationship on Facebook so other people will see that you've bagged a girlfriend anyway.

You could just remove your status completely?

I'm just married to one of my mates lol.
But in the info bit it says her name with a <3 and she has the same.

I took my relationship off Facebook because honestly, I don't need people knowing when I break up or whatever. Sure enough, when I Took it off, all hell broke loose and my roommate's and my phones were ringing off the hook from my friends who saw the status go off on Facebook.

    Come ON people!

Mine still says single when I'm actually not, haven't been for a couple of weeks. I'll get round to changing it eventually, it isn't really a massive deal.

Everyone knows it's not official until it's on Facebook...

(I'm in an open relationship with my best mate and my last girlfriend just had to put up with it :p:)

My fioncee of 9 months broke it off with me to become facebook official with her boyfriend of 2 months. I was heartbroken to say the least.

But seriously, leave it until you're certain the relationship's going somewhere and that it'll stay as 'in a relationship' for a while.

This is probably why. A couple of days?

Having said that I wouldn't expect my gfs to have 'single' written on their FB profiles if we were in a serious relationship. There's not really any reasonable excuse I can think of.

I'd wait a month or so OP, then have a chat with her about it if its bothering you.

    Visible relationship status on FB

Pros: all your mates know your getting some
Cons: The likelyhood for a very public and very embarassing breakup is greatly increased.

it's been a couple of days!! if it had been a few months or even a few weeks i might get your point but calm down. maybe she wants to see how it goes before she announces it to all her friends

and not everyone puts everything on facebook

i was in a relationship for 5 months before it went on facebook
and even then my friends did it when i left my facebook on
if you care about the facebook status then you arent with her for the right reasons imo
