    Hiya,

I'm working full-time now as a multilingual helpdesk analyst and am due to start my French A2 night school course next Wednesday (it's going to be 3 hours a week and we are apparently expected to do 2-3 hours of homework every week according to the course information sheet I got sent in the post). I did my AS back in 2004 (got a B, 8 marks off an A), and although have been revising some AS stuff, am finding listening pretty tough going. I finished my degree in Spanish and Italian two years ago and also did A-Levels in both languages back at college, so I am very familiar with language learning, but listening especially in French is rather tricky, whereas listening to Spanish and Italian (especially Spanish) just seems normal, more or less like English. I would also be grateful if someone could send me a past paper for the Unit 4 exam, as I know the Edexcel syllabus as changed since I did my AS back in 2004 (we did 3 units, and now I see the AS has two units and the A2 another two units).

On the other hand, I also see that there is no externally assessed listening or reading exam at A2, so I guess the most important skills to develop are speaking and writing. Ideally I would like an A (or an A*, as I know that's the new grade!)

Any advice about getting extra spoken practice in French too, because mine, despite remembering most of the tenses when it comes to writing or reading something in French, is rather hard when I'm trying to speak!

Thanks to everyone who can help!

    Jordan

(Have also posted this in the general A-Levels section but no one has answered me yet)
