Picking up prescription from another town
I came back from uni to go to the doctors at home and get a prescription. However my pharmacy is now shut for the weekend... would it be possible to take the prescription to the pharmacy at my uni town and get what I need?

Yes it is. You can only get the actual prescriptions from the doctors at which you are registered, but you can pick up the drugs anywhere.
