When the status changed to 'Application sent to college. A decision has yet to be made.' I got an e-mail shortly afterwards. There were no e-mails in-between the offer and the acknowledgement.

AES status changed yesterday to application received by college--today UCAS changed to Unconditional. Very happy! But I can't tell which college by either system and when I called Admissions they were gone for the weekend. Btw, I applied Combined Honours in Arts to read English and Classics. Also I didn't receive an email from Durham about AES change but did from UCAS today about its change.

My track has just updated so say i have an unconditional from criminology with foundation year (I'm a mature student), really happy
My AES stills shows that a decision has not been made though but i guess these things may just take time to update. I dont think it will seem real until i receive a confirmation letter!

I hope everybody else hears soon, i applied about 10days ago so quite a quick time to respond

    Exactly the same as me
I got Castle and am so ecstatic! I absolutely love it!

For anyone with offers at university college, who is going on the offer day/night in march?

Most of the places are still available, don't worry! Reading all the personal statements and references takes ages, and they haven't even had all the applications in yet.

Ahhh Stevo , I am in snow, your kinda lucky tho how close you r to lectures. Im alrdy at the uni. Finished my first term .
How are you finding it? I've applied to John Snow without looking into it, is it much different from Stephenson? Also, is Queens Campus boring? Sorry for the questions, just I've read quite a few bad things about Queen's :/

Hi, I am applying to Durham this year and I struggle while choosing camp... I need one with some sport facilities, self-cattering availability, not very modern and new (as I dont want to spend all my money on accomodation), and with some bars. Could you guys recommend me something?

They sent me a letter telling me I had an offer and in the letter there was the invite for the open day/night... which is £30 to stop over for.

Hey, firstly I welcome the questions about the uni and campus so don't worry .
Secondly so far I have really enjoyed the course, activities and location of the campus. I like you did not really investigate the location of the campus and differences between the two colleges and had worries about the location being crap and boring just like you. What you need to remember is that the majority of people ****ging the queens campus are people at main campus 100% sure that their college and their course is the best and just pass judgement randomly without giving their comments any real thought (which is a shame because they are actually damaging their universities reputation in the eyes of their possible peers).

Now your course is different to mine and I am not sure about how much work load you get but at the campus their are three activities most students fill their week with.
    1) Work- your at Durham and I would hope want to get the best grade and the most out of your degree, therefor a lot of us do quite a lot of work as the professors do work us hard

    2) Sport- with the great new facilities available with the new sport centre and the colleges competitive outlook on owning the other colleges, if you like sport you may spend a lot of time training with friends and team mates.

    3) Socialising, clubbing ect- In year 1 your in halls, so all your friends are all around you. You can go to the junior common room and games room and socialise (the college bar is almost done, I hope it should be opened before the next term). Then there is nights out to the local clubs in middlesborough (cornerhouse), Stockton like 10 minutes from halls (che Bar) and up in Durham on the free bus (Studio every saturday). So thats 3 nights out a week that you can go to, then there is additional societies nights out every so oftern. The college also organises trips to newcastle and leeds a few days each term which are really good big nights out .

There is plently of exciting things to do if you have the time imo. The fresher reps try to engage every1 in activities from the very beginning.

The two colleges are quite similar some pros for stevo is: slightly bigger college, slightly bigger rooms and closer to the teaching buildings (like 1 min walk away).

cons: Further from stockton town centre, has a rep for having larger internation intake and less of a part atmosphere.

Snow Pros- Brand new common room, closer to stockton and shops, is seen as the party college at queens. Also Snow is the best....

cons- further away 8-10 mins from lectures and smaller.

If you have any more questions feel free to PM me.

Yh its either the 22nd or 23rd of march, you can pick which one you want You can pay £30 to stay in the castle the night before, and they provide you with a meal, free soft drinks in the bar and breakfast the next day. Then you go and see your department I think. well worth staying in my opinion!

btw the dress code for dinner is formal, so you have to dress smart, but I'm not sure if they mean the sort of stuff you would wear to work or like a dress and heels easy though if you are a guy.

Anyone know what you should wear to a Durham formal dinner!!

well, what are you applying for? its nice to have somewhere close to where you're going. although in durham everywhere's close! i applied to trevs because its sporty and fun but also has a really good academic record and is really close to the science department which is where i'm going to be studying.

you could narrow it down by whether you want to be in the centre or not. look at the durham colleges site, they should give you a good idea. also, there are very few that are self catering, that should sort your choice out pretty quickly!
