Hi people I was just wondering weather anyone knows the aprox grade soas would want from the first year transcript at brunel to accept a transfer. I emailed soas regarding this and this is the reply they gave me

"It is sometimes possible to grant exemptions from part of the course at SOAS in respect of previous study, however each case is looked at individually and you should give full details of the courses you have taken at university and the examinations you have passed there in your application. We would also expect your academic reference from your current university tutor to be included in your UCAS application. Both, you’re A level results and your first year transcript will be taken into consideration."

I want to do history at soas and i am starting a ba in history at brunel on monday. Soas accepted me and gave me a grade boundry of ABB. My As results where an A grade for history yet a exam that I flopped came out as an E ( I KNOW CRAZY) thus overalled my a level at a grade C. I cant take these a gain until june 2011 so i wish to know how soas look at the cases "individually".

p.s i also heard that In cases where there are drop outs from history in the first year it does not necessarily mean that there are more places for the second year as the uni opens up more admissions for the 1st year ( does not make sense as if the uni was to expand there first year then if no body droped out it would mean that by the time thoose students reach the 2nd year the uni would be overpopulated)

    Thanks again

I'm actually considering this too..planning on emailing SOAS soon. When do you apply for a university transfer by the way? (Sorry I couldn't answer your question though :/)
