I'm not even from the UK (first year) but find British rap better than American, Americans piss me of with their ******** music...

I'm not saying that the British songs got more meaning..but they're more real.

    Some examples:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JrJSVR_1Uc

What pisses me of is that these people will probably never be famous or rich (internationally) because they have a British accent..!

I mean I never heard of these people before I came here, and I was into the rap scene and all.

America has a history of really good rap music, and I doubt anywhere will be able to match that. That said, I don't think it's entirely outlandish to say current British rap is better than current American rap music. Definitely don't agree with your examples though... Ty and Roots Manuva are far better examples.

A few years ago, US was way ahead, no competition.
At the moment, its starting to get quite close, which is good

While I'd agree most of those are good artists, they're all in the gangster rap ballpark -it seems an odd and restricted selection, there's better rap out there imo...

As far as I'm concerned US rap has a legacy that UK rap cannot top. I mean you have legends in the game, Jay-Z, Snoop, BIG, Rakim, Talib Kweli, Mos def, Common, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, LL cool J, Outcast, Eminem, Big Pun, Pac, Dre, KRS One, A tribe called quest, Redman...and the list goes on and on.

And as for present day, J.cole, Jay electronica, Drake, Kanye West, Lupe etc... are all doing there thing. But British rap has come along way.
