I know that if I got both, it would be smarter to go to Oxford, but I preferred UCL.
I'm really doubting myself as a candidate now; I didn't even get to interview stage. :/

I'm doing straight physics? I want to ultimately specialise in theoretical physics but I also want the chance to do practicals so I decided I'll just pick as many theoretical modules as I can on the straight physics course.
I hate practicals - one reason I didnt want to do straight physics!!!

    Rejected for English

Apparently 10A*s at GCSE and 4A* prediction just doesn't cut it.

D'you know what the reason was? I'm contemplating putting them down as a crazy choice, but your GCSEs are waaay better than mine

Not yet - I've sent an email asking as the attached letter suggested. Bit of a shock; thought that I might at least get an interview!

I got it through UCAS. I got really excited, naturally, it said my track status had changed. Thought it would be something positive. Devastated.

I have no idea... I called the admissions up for feedback but there's a tube strike atm and the head of admissions wasn't in. I'll call tomorrow.
I think maybe it was because I didn't certificate my AS's, although I did have AAA predictions. Ultimately, there was obviously something wrong with my personal statement and I didn't fit their needs.

I received an email from the human sciences admissions tutor today, asking me to answer several questions related to the course. Initially I was shocked, thinking that it was a rejection because it starts with something like "we feel obliged to make offers to applicants who fully understand the broad based nature of the degree".

The admissions tutor attached a presentation to the mail and said that he presents these notes to applicants coming to an interview (I'm an international applicant so I won't be interviewed). So I think this mail is my interview!

Has anyone else received such a questionaire?
Yes! But not for natural sciences As far as I read there are many departments at UCL sending those questionnaires

I hear from Penn on December 10th. It's nice to have an assured hear by date hahah. Yes liberal arts is great! I personally don't mind graduating in 4 years as it is one less year I have to work! I think there is an equal amount of stress in both systems given the stature of the schools. Though you have to make up your own curriculum, if you want to major in a certain subject you need to fulfill certain criteria (credit hours of courses under that major). So essentially, you are picking modules (like in the UK) then extras to round out your maths/science/language/arts requirements. Being both English and American I am at home in both systems, however, I will not be spelling "colour" without the "u" anytime soon. One tremendous advantage of the US is the unconditional offer, to be admitted then not attend as you have missed your offer must be heartbreaking, in the US there is no need for insurance .
Good luck once again, your application must be well on it's way! Do you have any ideas on what your major's going to be, if you end up going to the US?
That's true, though I'd like to graduate earlier and have more time for work experience if I want to get into a good business school/possibly law school.
I got an offer from UCL today btw, for our course! Have you heard anything yet?
