I wanted to apply for dentistry school , but i didnt want to tell my parents until i actually got into Dentistry school , but my mother has found out and gone mental , she said i wouldnt be up to it , to tell you honestly it is a hard course

My Dad actually said that if i got in i should go for it!! LOL

Ha ha I faced the same problem and I was 34 at the time of applying! And no, it did not put me off, it made me even more determined to prove them wrong. Eventually they got over it and now they are very supportive because they see how happy I am at uni and that I manage quite ok.
Just do what you have to do, you could have made far worse life choices than dentistry (erm.... pole dancing? LOL), at the end of the day your parents won't be living your life.

Good luck with your UKCAT test! You will be fine on the day.

Don't let your parents influence you. Dental training is a long process, and you have obviously thought long and hard about applying and going through with this, it's not like it's a whim decision.
If it's what you really want to do, and you have finally found your calling in a career, then go for it! Don't let your parents hold you back from that.
Your parents will never know you as well as YOU do, so you are the best judge of whether you can handle this course. Go for it!

When you say 'mature' how old are you? Just out of interest, it wouldn't make a difference to the way I feel about it!

Every time I talk to my mum and dad about going back to uni they say different things. If they encourage me I get super excited and spend the whole night researching it on the internet, and if they try to discourage me I get super determined and spend the whole night researching it on the internet.

So anything they say makes me want to study it more. I'm not applying until next year though, and I haven't started practising for the UKCAT yet.

    Good luck for your UKCAT!

What have you done up until now? Before applying to dentistry I mean.
