Food in and around the LSE

I thought I'd start a thread where people could post their comments/reviews of the places to eat in and around the LSE campus. (not that we have a campus) It'd be also great if people posted any discounts on offer, or the correct times to eat for the best deals, or the recommended foods at whatever place to eat. Maybe then, it'd be possible to eat good and cheaply (something I haven't come across much around here)!

Think I'll be looking for lunch later today so maybe I'll post a review or something after I'm done with it. :p:

Ah well, lots of chances to try lunch another day since there's lectures everyday of the week.

Wright's Bar is great - just the frigging best for a cheap sandwich my friend - Don't go to the Sushi place - it's way too expensive.

Rosebery residents - there is a great place on the way back home walking to halls that hhas half price sushi from 6pm to 7pm - it's not bad at all.

TO be honest I think the food is overpriced- went to canteen in old building had the stir fry- its good but £5 for a meal is overpriced. I know this cool chinese place where u choose what you eat for £3.30 but its 3 tube stops away.
i like the garrick

Never! The food in there is too upmarket lol - i was in there today (well yesterday) and everyone was eating salmon, how booooring! the best place is the room under the Tuns which does chicken dippers and chips, decent enough.

On a side note, has anyone caught sight of me (the wandering football shirt wearer) ? Twas my Man Utd shirt yesterday but i'm feeling maybee my England one in the morning, keep your eyes peeled

Ate at Wright's Bar today, the food wa 'alright' (sandwiches seem to taste the same everywhere) but at around ~1.5 average for a sandwich or so is a fair price and the service was good. I should've gotten a drink, but I went to starbucks instead so I don't know if the drinks are any good :p:

And yeah, the Garrick is upmarket lol.

I can vouch for their hot chocolate. And the Fanta in a can was great!

Don Quixote's has humongous just-cooked sandwiches for about 3 pounds. You'll never feel hungry again after eating one (not for a few hours anyway  ). The place is about a 5-10 minute walk east from the LSE campus.

get the Ham and Pickle sandwich - it's the best thing at Wrights - and the tea with sugar - trust me on this one.

How much is the tea in Wrights? Cos its only 60/70p in the Garrick, that supplied me with a few mornings worth of tea last year :p:

Dude, 60/70 p? that's not happening my friend. Wrights is I believe 35 or 45 p, and it the best tea on campus. I don't know what they do, but it is pretty awesome.

where do you live - there are a set of halal places near some of the intercollegiate residences - And there's one not too far from rosebery - just up the street.

The guide-thing from fresher's fair said that some of the sandwiches in the Union shop are also halal.
Like Earlham said, the hot chocolate was great at Wright's Bar, and at 60p its a steal compared to the 1.8 you have to pay at $tarbux for something of similar size! Think I need to start heading off campus and seeing what there is to eat in the nearby streets :p:

There's a Subway not far off for the Americans who just want a taste of "home cookin.'"
