yes, in a move that seems more fitting of 1810 than 2010, they attack him for not being married to his partner, I mean, good grief, how much lower can that paper sink?

Family Values has to be the biggest load of ******** you will hear, it has no place in serious political debate.

personally, I think his family life is essentially irrelevant to how good a leader he will be.

if this is the best the Right Wing media can come up with, then frankly, they will only prove how pathetic they really are.

Firstly, it's a bit unusual to be siring illegitimate children when you're a major politician - but to omit their name from a birth certificate, and try to explain it away as being apparently too busy to fill out the single entry in a form is ludicrous.

There are two ways to gain paternity rights automatically in Britain: one is to be married to the mother, the other is to have your name on the birth certificate. It is a very, very important thing to do if you have an illegitimate child and want any legal rights over it.

Major newspapers had similar stories. Why only notice daily mail?

Ed Milliband is a disgrace. It's even worse considering he is to allow his woman to give birth another little *******.

What kind of example is he setting?

What OP perhaps ought to appreciate is that it is he who has the novel idea, not the Daily Mail.

Whilst he might consider the belief that "Family Values has to be the biggest load of ******** you will hear" to be some kind of moral breakthrough, most do not. The upholding of and adhering to family values is, for most ordinary folk, what gets them through this life, and from one day to another. It is a provider of security that many if not most people need to get by, and for many children a breakdown of family values and family life is a great and lasting tragedy.

Anyway back to the main point. The Daily Mail is simply appealing to the intuitive and plausible idea that how a man treats those closest to him tells us something about the nature of his character.

Hardly. It's novel enough, even in this day and age, that he's living unmarried with children, but the additional point that he hasn't even bothered declaring himself the father of (presumably) his own child is nothing short of dodgy - and the explanation given by his spokesman is utter rot.

Again, it's utterly inconceivable that a major political figure could act in this way and it not be covered in the newspapers.

Whilst I'm sure we'd all just love a society where the Prime Minister, Duchess of Wessex, Speaker of the Commons or whoever else could go merrily around Hampstead Heath at the weekends buggering skinheads whilst the newspaper editors nod and say 'oh well, it's their private life, innit?' and throw the photographs in the bin, we do not live in such a society.

Furthermore, it is utterly inconceivable for you to say that you've grabbed the wrong end of the stick this time.

Agreed. I have family who have 'families' outside of wedlock, and I disown them. It's appalling. People hide behind the pathetic facade of "it's the modern way" and lambast others with "stop being old fashioned." Well, there's nothing old fashioned about living your life the proper way. Typical Socialist. Scum.

Wow what a crappy story. There are so many other legitimate criticism to make of Ed without resorting to such childish antics. Although at the same time this is quite and odd skeleton for a politician to have let alone the leader of the opposition.

Are you serious? Who are you to decide what the proper way is?
My mum and stepdad aren't married but have two children together, so does that mean that according to you they're 'scum'? Even though you would know nothing else of them, and this is the only thing you're basing your judgement on. That's just a ridiculous prejudice.
