# C3 trig - Quadratic form? watch

1. I've been pretty confident with the trig so far in C3, until I reached this question:

By rearranging the equation into quadratic form solve the following for -180< x < 180.
i) 2tanx - cotx =1

I don't understand what the question means by 'rearrange into the quadratic form', it isn't something I've heard in any other questions or in class.

2. Rewrite as . Can you see where to go from here?
3. Oh right, so simply expressing it as

2tan^2x - tanx - 1 = 0

is expressing it in the quadratic form?

And from there I presume I factorise it to (tanx-1) (2tanx + 1)

Yup
