Fresher's week has just ended, and although I've had a couple of good nights out and stuff, I definitely havn't found my kind of people yet. There's one really sweet girl in my house who I've bonded with a bit, and made a few friendly faces here and there but no one I've struck a chord with really. I have a great social life at home, and a large group of friends back there who I love and trust and who I go out with all the time, so it's not like I'm socially retarded, but I am missing those friends at the moment as I'm failing to find people like them here. I have quite a left wing sense of humour, which not everyone gets at first (or ever), but I've managed to find plenty of people at home who get me....so surely won't those kind of people be at uni too? Did anyone else find this sort of thing in their freshers week also? I don't want to spend a whole year (or 3 years) not being able to be myself and missing my old friends.

Maybe you could try joining some socities of things that you enjoy (or think you might enjoy)and hope to meet some likeminded people there? I am going to uni next year and that is how I intend to make some friends! Hope it all works out x

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Everyone builds up freshers as this big huge social event extravaganza where you meet everybody and all your friends but it very rarely happens that way.
The people I count as my really close friends I didn't meet until the end of my first year/start of second.
