Last year my school had a rate of 24% A's in AS English Literature (LITB1) AQA.
This year (my year) the rate was 8%.

No teacher change, no change in mark scheme, no change in syllabus.

The grades have just plummeted. I myself was getting A's and B's in the mock papers - I somehow dropped to a D in the exam. The mock papers were marked at grade boundaries of 80/70/60 for A/B/C respectively.

We had a selection of papers remarked, expecting them to go up (thought we had an inexperienced examiner or something). A few went up, A few went down. It brought my overall English Grade from 1 mark off a B to 6 marks off a B.

All the predictions for people were wrong.

So what change caused this :|?

The grade boundaries were similar. 60% A the year before to 65% this year. If anything the questions were easier - nothing that could catch you out.
