I'm filling in an application form and the answer has a 500 word limit but I've only written 350 words, is that bad even though I've answered the question or do you need to get as close to 500 words as possible? Thanks

Try and push it to 400, and it will be fine.

It depends what you're writing. If the 350 words are all concise and to the point, don't waste the reader's time by filling the rest of the space with irrelevant waffle.

True, even 300 words of relevant quality, is better than 500 words of BS.

Yeah, I don't want to be just filling space as it starts to detract from what I'm saying
