Well when blood dries it goes browner, doesn't it [mine does....]? So maybe you just noticed your period had started later than you have done previously?

So tbh I think you're fine... But I'm no doctor! :p:

Right, I got my period today, well, at least I THINK it's my period - its not red, it's brown, it sort of looks like...er...skidmarks but i KNOW it's not skidmarks because it's in the wrong area of my pants. I'm a bit worried that it's not red, anyone got any ideas?

Probably it is just the beginning of your periods, when the tissues are all discharged... if it is the same till tomorrow, see your GP
At the very start of my period it's sometimes brown... it usually turns to red pretty quickly. I just take it to be dried blood.
I had that for about three months, and they were coming every two weeks as well. I'm on the pill now, which sorted it all out but I'm still not exactly sure what was wrong then. Probably something to do with the frequency of it all, but I'm no scientist!

That really didn't help you... I'd say see if it happens again next time you have a period. It may be a one off, it may not. If it's not, then see your GP.

sounds perfectly normal to me - periods vary in colour between red and brown. If you're still concerned about it, go see your GP and they'll be able to tell you if everythings okay.

It's totally normal for period blood to sometimes be rather brownish. It's just because the blood took longer to work its way down to leave your body. On heavy flow days the blood is more likely to be red.

you might be aneamic. Women usually have anaemia because they lose a lot of blood, and if youre not getting enough iron period colour does change brown/black. thats just my guess though.

Because she used to be his gf..? Some mature couples are actually really close! (Aaah, love... *sigh* )

EDIT: and to actually help the threadstarter... it's probably normal. Same thing happens to me at the beginning and mainly at the end of my period for a rather long time.
