I want to do A-level Chemistry I want to do written examinations at college as a private candidate - no coursework or practicals.

In the U.K you can't get away without doing a practical. There is no written alternative.

    There are 6 modules

Module 1 – written paper (worth 20% of total marks for A Level)
Module 2 - written paper (worth 20% of total marks for A Level)
    Module 3 – Practical (worth 10%)

Module 4 written paper (worth 20% of total marks for A Level)
Module 5 - written paper (worth 20% of total marks for A Level)
    Module 6 – practical (worth 10%)

This is the form edexcel exams take – I think it’s similar for all boards.

If you sat only the written modules, and scored 100% for each of the 4 modules – theoretically it means you could get an A grade. (not A-star)
