see if you can find some bubble wrap, then shred it in a frenzy of destruction! not only does it make a cool popping sound, but you get the stress relief of using yr muscles etc, which should help to relieve tension.

alternatively you could try doing some breathing exercises, just breath really deeply, hold, and then exhale slowly. breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. repeat nine times and imagine all the tension being blown away as you exhale.

As I posted in this thread:
http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/t139773.html

Clench your fists tight and then release them and stretch your fingers right out.
Raise/tense your shoulders and then shrug really heavily.
Breathe deeply.
Balance your head on your shoulders so it doesnt feel heavy or painful.
If you want to, scrunch your face up and then release it.

It really calms me down!
edit: these are tips from a "dealing with stress" class i went to

i think you're kinda going going about this the wrong way... fi you're really stressed you won't be able to slove it properly ina couple of minutes, suggestions like Blissy's are only short term solutions- useful if you're having a stressy day but if you're permantly stressed they're not going to get rid of the problem... i think you should look at what's making you stressed and seeing if there's any way you can reduce that- whether it is exercise, spending more time with your friends, trying to reduce your workload/ manage your time better. remember stress does have long term health implications, it's not a good thing just to live with it.

If you're not in that... mood though, don't underestimate deep breathing . Or get a foot spa thing! Something different:P

Boxing, it's always helped me. Buy a punch bag and get a good work out or, masturbate.
just to extend on the breathing thing....i was taught to breathe in 7 and breath out 11 (or proportionately less breaths if you cant manage that much)

apparently that pattern triggers natural relaxation.....smokers breathe in sort of the same way...short inhale to a longer exhale..this is one of the reasons smoking is relaxing

anyway..do that for a good min..and keep at it..it genuinely works

.also....tensing your muscles one at a time...eg your a chair..do your toes, hold for 5 ,release, legs do the same, then bum..until you move slowly up and get to your head..and focus on your body and how heavy the relaxed bits now feel

also lavender oil is naturally good for relieving stress..i was practically doped up on the stuff in the queues waiting to get into my Alevels

ps kalm tablets are pretty good too

pps..i am clearly a freak :P
is this meant for long term or short term (ie suring a test?)

The best way to relieve stress is to run. At first you're thinking so you don't notice you are running and don't get tired. Then after a few minutes you start running faster and suddenly you forget everything. It all becomes about running faster, and if you have somewhere to run to it's even better because everything becomes about getting there, and when you finally do, you're happy and very tired. It's better than a low five as it works out you're whole body, and also keeps you fit. Or maybe this is just me, so er....*runs*

I know you said you wanted something quickly to do, but this seriously is worth the effort.
whats with the bubble wrap?!

 Bubblewrap RULES! Do NOT speak ill of Bubblewrap
Try meditation and massage your temples. It always works for me. Or try lying on the ground and turning on calm music and then close your eyes and then start tensing your muscles start from shoulders then so on till you tense your toes and then after each tensing relax and then tense the next body part, then just lie there for 5 minutes. But this is a really slow process it takes around 10 minutes. If you want a quicker way try massaging your temple. It always helps for me but i might not for you. Just try. I hope this helped.
LOL someone negative repped me for starting a thread asking for stress relief techniques.
I generally find that the best way of dealing with it is punching a wall. Not for everyone, but the pain in your knuckles does distract you better than bubblewrap
