Whats more competative at Edinburgh, History and Russian or just History?

I know they're both really competative but still.

At a guess, straight History would be more competitive, as Languages are a bit of a minority interest and Russian even more so.
Be aware that although Edinburgh quote BBB for history, their typical officer is usually nearer AAA.

there is that, but wouldnt getting onto any joint honours be harder anyway, as you have to impress admissions officers in both departments?

Yeh I guess. I'm finding it really hard to write a statement for both as I'm applying for single history in other Uni's and my stupid school are being ******** and want me to have it in for tomorow.

When you get to Edinburgh, you have to choose outside courses, so even if you applied to do just History, you could take Russian anyway. If you want, it could end up being part of your degree.

But I don't think I would get the year out in 3rd year like I would if I was doing joint honours and don't reckon i'd get in to do single history if it is more competative. AHHHHH I'm so confused!!!!
