What is the difference in applying to medical school at Durham and at Newcastle? My careers advisor said that people from Newcastle can choose to go to Durham for the first few years and then all Durham people, regardless if they applied through Newcastle or Durham directly, go to Newcastle for the remaining years of the medical degree... so my question is (as i would prefer to spend the first few years in Durham) is it better to apply to Durham university or go there via Newcastle? i.e. which uni is easier to get into? What are the course differences for the 5 year programme? thanks

I went to the Newcastle open day and they said Durham is easier to get into because they get less applications.
I pretty sure there are no differences between the courses.
