    Under what conditions might the Beer-Lambert law not be obeyed?

    A = ɛlc

    From the equation you can deduce that the concentration of the absorbing mixture has to be the same throughout the medium, i.e. homogeneous.
    You'd also need the sample to be clear of any contamination so that the light doesn't end up being scattered by extra particles in there.
    Another condition I can think of is to do with the rays incident on the medium..ideally you'd need monochromatic light.
    Also, stray light can cause deviations from the law.
