Hi there guys. I have a problem. I went out with some friends last night to a rock club and the music was really really loud. Now i can't hear properly. I wasn't worried because i just thought it'd go away but its been all day now and im panicking. When theres no other noise i have a constant ringing in my ears and when there is noise it sounds slightly muffled and distorted.
Has anyone else has an experiance like this? How long does it take to go away?

 Yah, I used to get that. It sometimes takes a couple of days to go away, but it does in the end.

It's just tinnitus, you often get it after loud music. Give it a few more days and it should go back to normal. If not, go and see your GP.

It's not actually tinnitus. :p: Tinnitus is a permanent condition of ringing or rumbling within the ears; it occurs when nerve hairs are damaged within the ear. The shrill ringing is just similar to tinnitus symptoms. And yeah, it will go away within a few days...I hate it too.

I've got this now after going to a nightclub last night.. it's horrible! I really wish they would turn the music down a teeeeeny bit in clubs, it would make so much difference.

Be careful, as people have said, repeated exposure to loud sounds can cause that ringing permanently. It's not nice, and you don't have to be old for it to happen, the more often you expose your ears to damage the longer it'll take for it to stop, as more and more of the cilia in the ear which pick up sounds die. If you end up deaf before you're thirty you won't think the concerts/clubs were worth it.
