These were the courses in clearing last year. Just because a university goes into clearing, it doesn't mean that it will take you with lower grades than they expect.

Yikes :/ Does maths ever go into clearing? :frown:

is that just kings college? or all universities in general? and i was really hoping to do maths at one of the russell group universities in london. I can easily get above the entry requirements but what are the chances of me getting into any through clearing/maths going into clearing for any of these universities?

Sorry for asking so many questions, there is nobody at my college to help me with this kind of stuff. Thanks

i doubt it anyway...but does physiotherapy go into clearing here or any other uni? do people drop out later in the year or anything like that which creates spaces?

I thought Comp Sci was only on clearing for International Students last year? Strange.

Was maths at KCL on clearing in 2010?

Reply 10

Please don't hate me for this but I'm kinda disappointed to see that KCL has courses in clearing. I mean, I am starting there next year and I thought it was a top university. Aren't top universities supposed to be able to fill up their courses? (I really hope that I'm not being pretentious, I'm just wondering...)

Do you guys know if other better uni like LSE, UCL, Oxbridge, etc. have any courses in clearing? That could give me an idea of how "bad" of an indication this is...

LSE, UCL, Oxbridge didn't go into clearing. But I doubt it can be an indicator of anything. I believe King's being in clearing was best explained by the following.

Yeah. However the subjects don't enter clearing for every year like the above universities. There have been times where even some courses at UCL have been open for clearing. At KCL its mostly the Physics course thats in clearing but only admits international students.

However the Nursing course is open for clearing for many years and its simply cause NHS have a severe shortage of nurses and KCL does not have a limit to the amount of nurses it can train.

Last year, they were all from the CS and Physics department apart from the two foundation courses.

And I can't answer why it didn't go into clearing but you can call and ask/ check their website if you don't believe me.

no, i belive you

Its just that I was mostly surprised that they even had courses in clearing in 2010 - espicially given they have something like 8 applicants per place for physics, and they only admit about 70 people :s-smilie:. Do you know whether that was just a freak year?

No idea. Honestly. Or maybe they have a specific amount of International to Home students ratio and the international numbers didn't fill up. That may explain why the courses were only open to International students.

According to UCAS, KCL has an Education Studies course in clearing...but it really doesn't matter after all:smile:

I believe the nursing course was in clearing. Though I believe you've explained the reasonings behind that before.
