Eh, well i don't celebrate Christmas so i never get anything or give anything (unless i happen to have a gf at the time who'd bite my head off if i didn't). Though to make up for it, if during the year i want to reward someone with a random present i will.. but obviously i never get anything in return.

I was a right Scrooge when it came to Christmas last year, but I think I may try and be a bit more positive about it this time around. I do agree that it's lost its meaning, is over commercialised and the only part of it I really like is Doctor Who, it's the build up I'm more of a fan of. I want CD's and books this year.

I didn't read the entire article, but I know Christmas isn't exclusively a Christian holiday

You're right, there's certainly no laws, but one would find it difficult to avoid it. What bothers me the most is the hype, and inevitable anti-climax of Christmas. I went to some restaurant a while ago, in August, and there was a board informing people to start booking Christmas parties

I'm also fed up with reading endless dreary articles in January moaning about how 'tight' the month is. Well don't spend excessive amounts at Christmas for spoilt children who don't deserve rewarding (most of the time)!

Anyway, that's my brief rant over.
I agree competely with the fact that Christmas is overhyped . That's crazy! August is far too early! I saw advent calendars last year at the end of October .

I love the last two or three weeks leading up to Christmas because of the mounting excitement, but when people put decorations up at the beginning of November it just sucks the fun out of it all. You're fed up with Christmas before it's even over.

I just try to ignore all of this and have a great time anyway, and it usually works .

It's a relief to find someone so like minded

I also enjoy the weeks leading up to it. It's the combination of a toastie warm room, some half decent tele, the smell of the seasonal air fresheners (Cinnamon and malt wine ) and the solace I seek in knowing that I won't have my hopes dashed of a wonderful christmas like most people will....because I know for a fact it won't be wonderful

I was going to agree that we were like minded until the part in bold :p:. I do think Christmas is wonderful, but only when you don't stretch it out for months. It's a special time, but the fact that it doesn't last very long is what makes it so special for me, otherwise it would just be 'more of the same'.

I love Christmas! I tend to start checking countdowns around this time of year but I agree when people say it's silly for shops to be selling presents and for people to be putting decorations up too early. We normally tend to do that sort of thing in the first or second week of Decemeber. I really enjoy the hype and spirit leading up to Christmas though. Going shopping, watching good TV, putting up our decorations, looking at other peoples decorations, putting up the tree and eating great food, etc... I'm not so bothered about Halloween and don't tend to celebrate it much if at all. Christmas is probably my favourite time of year and I'm looking forward to it!

Omg, i'm so excited! I love Christmas! 84 days! =D
I get to see all my family in one day, which is amazing because they all live quite far away so i don't get to see them all often, so Christmas is amazing! =D <3

Totally agree to this, how i feel exactly! Although, i am looking forward to Halloween this year, having a big party

But i prefer Christmas, with decorations, family time, Winter Wonderland opens by me, the tree, shopping and i generally find that everyone seems happier around Christmas time, there's a nice atmosphere around :o:

    I can't wait! :woo:
