Put another way, is this racist?

Rare Recruitment is a recruitment agency which specialises in providing high-quality, white anglo saxon candidates for graduate entry level and summer internship positions across all employment sectors.

That was my thought. If you read the bumpf on the guy behind it...

..."Increased the proportion of Pearson’s UK staff from ethnic minorities from 5%to 11%."

Makes it sound like it was a concerted effort to get people of a minority into jobs, not the best candidates.

If I started a recruitment agency exclusively for the white middle class, I'm sure that would attract very negative publicity!

And statements like this are just genalisations and inflammatory:

The details of this recruitment agency were sent out in a mail shot from UoL careers.

This company is trying to create a niche for itself in the employment market. I don't see anything wrong with that.

not sure how half of new workers will be from an ethnic minority either...considering they only comprise 10% of the population...

Does a gaybar insult gays because it seems to imply they need help finding a partner? Who knows why someone might sign up to this agency. Some jobs are more likely to need people with different skills. A bank might be looking for a person with a knowledge of Mandarin or of Chinese culture and way of life to take over their China department. Some translation firm might need someone with a knowledge of Urdu and Hindi. Spearmint Rhino might have opened a suggestion box in which the punters asked for more girls from Malaysia (to use a slightly facetious example :p:

) I don't see how this is fundamentally any worse than a recruitment agency for students (of which there are plenty). Businesses have the right to use any recruitment agency and anyone has a right to found a business they believe will be profitable.

Unfortunately, minorities are discriminated against in the work place, so they need to pool resources for a united struggle for equality.

What's wrong with a private firm discriminating based on race? There is more than one employment agency in the market, and I'm sure most would be happy to help non-minorities.
