Did you go to medlink? What do you think of it?
I did not, I went on TSR and found how much of a waste of time/money it was before :p:

I'm just going to try and keep in mind "I'm doing this to get into med. school".
Don't think of it as work experience or anything to get you into med school, it's really not! Don't even waste the characters in your personal statement

I'm going but not looking forward to it after all I've read over the past month. I wish I got a refund now! People from my school are going but not many are my friends so it'll suck even more. I guess I'm just gonna try and have fun. Oh and I wasted an extra £100 or so on the premium **** :|

So looked at details for medlink...around 200 and something pounds :/

Thats quite abit for 4 days :/ Well, i dont know about most of you, but i certainly can't afford it!

Although my mums offered to pay. But is it really worth it? Any past medlink goers, found it useful? How many of you are planning to go?

Out of all the people In my school who went, 1 found it useful. And he then chose to not do medicine as a direct result....

I didnt go to Medlink, but I went to Medisix and I actually had a really good time! I cant say whether or not it was particularly useful but it was good fun and I learnt a few things while I was there Although my college paid for us to go after no students received offers for medicine over the last 5 years, so maybe i'd be less positive if id paid for myself!

I reckon medlink and medisix are quite similar lol. What did you lot do? Like was it talk after tlak after talk? How to get in, what to do, attitudes for a doctor and all the stuff nearly everyone knows already lol Or did you actually see demonstrations/medical environments etc?

The only thing about medlink which really attracts me is Nottingham!

Not at all! We had a few talks and seminars n things, a little on what we can do to get in I suppose, some lectures on some interesting things (there was one on medical explanations for things like werewolves/vampires/zombies, which while unlikely was really interesting!)

But most of our time was spent in workshop things, like practical stuff. Had a go at suturing, simulated keyhole surgery, some things with ECG etc etc. It was at Nottingham though

    No, don't go.

Before I went to Medlink, I was 60-70% sure that I wanted to do Medicine as a degree. Afterwards, I was 80-90% sure that I *didn't* want to do it.

Obviously it's a bit childish to base your degree off some stupid batch of taster sessions, but it helped me realise that it wasn't for me.

You see, now I have come to grips with the fact that I can't stand the sight of blood...
