I was wondering (and hoping) if anyone else has tried doing this with any success, or any advice on how to go about this.

I started a foundation course in september 2009 but ended up leaving (due to needing to get a full time job). Now I'd like to apply straight through to a BA but most of the entry requirements say that a Foundation diploma is pretty much necessary. I reckon (hope, really) that the standard of my portfolio would be good enough to get a place, but would I even be considered for portfolio review if I don't have the foundation? I think I meet all the requirements of the courses I want to apply for otherwise... If anyone can give some advice that'd be great!

    thanks

some uni's require them, but generally if your porfolio is up to par with those who have done a foundation then it's not a must. I've found a lot of uni's don't mind if you don't have a foundation.

If you meet the entry requirements and they like your personal statement and it doesnt say on their website that you specifically MUST have a foundation then you should get an interview.

if you apply they will either accept you if your good enough or if they think your not good enough to go straight to BA but still want you they will offer you foundation instead so you might as well try

is there a big chance that i won't get to the stage where I'm asked to show my portfolio? I can't imagine universities arranging interviews with every single applicant. I suppose I'll have to make my personal statement convincing. thanks for the replies though, they are more reassuring.

Yeah, hopefully I'll be able to pull it off although I haven't written anything for a long while! Whereabouts are you applying? Whats made you decide not to take a foundation? I know this sounds a bit hypocritical but I'd recommend a foundation if you're of the age where you get it free, but then again you might be in a similar situation to me...

Are you planning on contacting any of the course directors personally to try and explain your situation? I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but it might be useful in raising you outta the sea of everyone else when alot of people have something we don't. I think the main thing is that people without the foundation have grown out of the A-level art mindset..
